How does ENACOM identify suitable locations for wind power and photovoltaics?
We use GIS analyses for preliminary technical assessments combined with a regional network and market knowledge. Criteria include wind exposure, irradiation, grid connection, protected areas and planning law framework conditions.
How long does a typical site protection take?
This depends heavily on the availability of the owners and the complexity of the negotiations. It usually takes between four weeks and several months to fully secure a site. We communicate openly about timetables and intermediate statuses.
Can ENACOM also take over the owner contact for areas that have already been identified?
Yes, if you have already identified sites, we will be happy to contact the owner, negotiate and conclude the contract. You can join us at any stage of the process of securing a site.
What are the terms of lease agreements for wind power and PV projects?
Lease agreements typically run for 25-30 years for wind power projects and 20-25 years for PV projects. ENACOM negotiates terms that are viable for both parties in the long term – with transparent payment structures and clear withdrawal clauses.
In which regions does ENACOM secure sites?
Our focus is on eastern Germany with an active network in Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We also process inquiries from other federal states and Slovakia.
What happens to the site if the project is not approved?
We regulate this clearly in the contract: if a project fails to obtain approval, the owner incurs no costs and no obligations. The area remains freely available. This principle is non-negotiable for us.
